An important California Impressionist/WPA oil on canvas painting by the celebrated artist Horatio Nelson Poole (1885-1949), titled "The Green Scollop", 1930.
The painting depicting two horses in a sylized landscape of the Mendocino Hills, California. Poole cleverly emphasizing the height and structure of the hills with the use of color and shade, overlooking the Pacific Ocean with Cumulus clouds against a blue sky. The painting boldly signed and dated lower right "Nelson Poole 30", also annotated by the artist with his San Francisco studio address to the verso " H. Nelson Poole 728 Montgomery" and titled "The Green Scollop" and also with the price of "$300.00", a tidy sum on money in 1930!
The painting is in excellent condition and ready to hang.
