A very fine antique French 1st Empire/Napoleonic period mahogany and ormolu monted cheval mirror, circa 1815.
The mirror with a stepped top and removeable wooden gilded gesso cornice, above a rectangular mahogany panel mounted with a gilt bronze roundel with gilt bronze fern leaves. To each side is a pair Doric columns with gilded bases and capitals, centering a swivel beveled glass mirror that is elegantly framed within a mahogany frame with gilded molding.
The lower section is fitted with a single drawer having a gilded bronze pull and corresponding gilt bronze fern leaf mounts, the mirror is raised on tapering supports with a pair of arched feet joined by a turned and ribbed stretcher.
The mirror is of the finest quality and is in remarkable, excellent antique condition, this very elegant antique mirror is ready to grace your space.

From the collection of a Pacific Northwest gentleman, the mirror was purchased in 1991 from a well respected Vancouver B.C. gallery for $22,500.
