Fine Antique American 18th century Chippendale mahogany highboy/tall chest on stand, Salem, Massachusetts, Circa 1760-1790. An near identical tall chest sold January 20th 2023 for $37,800 at Christie's New York.

The highboy having two sections, the top section having a 'Swan's Neck" pediment and three carved finials, below is a fan carved drawer flanked by two short drawers, with four long graduated drawers below. The base section having one long drawer and a corresponding fan carved drawer, also flanked by two short drawers, the base with a shaped skirt. The highboy is raised on cabriole legs to the front and back that terminate to raised pad feet.

All the drawer linings and secondary woods are white pine, all the drawers have the original brass handles and lock plate escutcheons. Condition is very good indeed, historical and sympathetic refinish, a very fine 18th century Massachusetts highboy circa 1760. The tall chest has provenance of the same family ownership for more than 7 generations.
