Large Antique American Sterling Silver Tiffany & Co Handled Repoussé Basket 1890

A fine & large antique American Victorian Classical solid sterling silver engraved & Repoussé handled basket, circa 1890. Retailed by Tiffany & Co., New York. 
This very beautiful large sterling silver basket having a hinged handle with pierced work & floral engraving, the bowl below of oval form with a deep well that has cross hatched engraved decoration with chased scrolls and open pierced floral & foliate design. Four leaf-mounted splayed scroll cabriole supports. The basket is fully marked including retailer’s stamp (“Made for / Tiffany & Co.”) and the model #2218. 
The bowl is in excellent condition, it really is a superlative example of the late 19th century American silversmith's art and retailed by the New York's premier retailer of beautiful and desirable objects.
