A fine pair of large antique late 19th century French ormolu mounted 'Sevres' porcelain handpainted vases & covers, signed "E.Gilbert", circa 1890.
The vases of baluster shape with ivory & celeste bleu glaze with raised gilded decoration, each vase having a lid with an acorn shaped finial. The front of the vases having hand-painted scenes of courting couples, the female in each seemingly reluctant to accept the attentions of their admirers, each vase is signed to the base of the painted panel "E. Gilbert". The rear of each vase having a corresponding painted panel with an architectural scene, both vases are raised on socle bases & gilt bronze footed plinths with laurel leaf decoration.
The underside of each lid is having the Sevres interlaced L marks with an "A" in the middle & an oval cartouche with "S41" to the inside.
The vases are of the finest quality and the condition of each vase is excellent, these very beautiful antique French Sevres vases are ready to grace your space.
