A fine antique carved walnut Spanish Baroque trestle desk/table and matching chair, circa 1860.
The desk is very finely carved in the Baroque/Renaissance taste and comes from the Andalusia region of Spain, beautifully carved & finished on all sides so that it can float in a room. 
The desk having three intricately carved drawers across the front, carved with winged griffins and each with the original lock & key, the desk is raised on a pair of carved & scrolled trestle shaped legs terminating to carved paw feet & joined by hand-forged iron stretchers.  The rectangular top with a carved gadrooned border, the back of the desk with a band of foliate carving and a central grotesque mask, there are corresponding carvings & masks to the sides. The desk/table  has a matching carved chair with corresponding carved paw feet and has just been professionally re-upholstered with an embroidered leather, both the desk & chair has a rich, deep patina. Condition is very good indeed, the desk and chair are ready to grace your home or office.
