A good antique French Gothic Revival carved oak dowry chjest/coffer, circa 1820.
The chest having a hinged lid with a gadrooned edge, the front of the chest has the original hand-forged iron hasp & lock, below is a chip carved panel with a cruciform design surrounded with a globe, to each side is a latice design chip carved panel. The sides of the chest have corresponding diamond shaped panels with four complinentary triangular carved panels, the base of the chest having a shaped skirt and ogee shaped carved feet.
The chest is in excellent condition and provides lots of clean and aroma free storage from bedding, clothes or whatever you choose, this very elegant antique French chest is ready to grace your space.
