A fine antique French Empire Mahogany & ormolu mounted bookcase display cabinet, circa 1910.
This elegant antique cabinet is made of the finest mahogany, the top with an architectural pediment mounted with a gilt bronze laurel leaf rosette and further gilded bronze mounts below. The cabinet having glazed twin doors enclosing two adjustable shelves, each door is mounted with a pair of angels, the base of the doors are mounted with corresponding rosettes. The doors are flanked with a pair of columns having gilt bronze bases and capitals, the cabinet is raised on four turned ball feet. The cabinet having the original lock & key and locks with ease, the shelves can be adjusted to receive very large books.
The cabinet is in very good condition, original finish, original wavy glass, the quality of the gilded cast bronze mounts is outstanding.
