A good antique French carved mahogany Baroque Revival dining table, circa 1900.
The table has a sliding top that receives two extra leaves, when fully extended the table is very stable and robust and would comfortably seat 12 guests. The table base is finely carved with turned & ribbed baluster shaped legs with acanthus leaf carving, the legs are joined with a curved 'X' frame stretcher and the table is raised on compressed bun feet.
The table skirts have a whimsical feature, each side is fitted with button that when pressed would have sounded a servant's bell, the bell presses would have been wired and have run under a carpet or down the baseboards of the dining room.
The table is in excellent condition, the table slides with ease and the leaves are easily fitted, the table was just professionally polished in Bloomsbury's workshops. This wonderful table is ready to receive your guests for the holidays, servants not included!
