A rare antique Flemish/Dutch polychrome corner cabinet, painted with the nativity scene of Jesus, Holland circa 1760.
The two door bow-fronted cabinet having an original painting of the Adoration of the Christ Child", it depicts Mary & Joseph presenting Jesus to the Magi or Three Wise Men/Kings. Each door with a brass escutcheon/lock plate and pierced brass 'butterfly' hinges, the doors enclose three original shelves.
The cabinet is in good condition & of solid construction, the polychrome decoration is predominantly intact & in good condition.

Provenance; From the estate of celebrated British theatre set & costume designer Oliver Messel (1904-1978). He famously designed the Tony Award winning sets for Truman Capote's 1954 Broadway musical "House of Flowers". He was related to Queen Elizabeth II sister, Princess Margaret and was well known for throwing flamboyant parties attended by theatre stars, designers and aristocrats, the cabinet had been in his residence at 17 & 19 Pelham Place, South Kensington, London.
