A rare & unusual antique Bohemian inlaid marquetry Elm tabernacle cabinet and desk, Austria, circa 1820.
The cabinet in two sections, the top with an arched pediment, the sides of the cabinet are canted & have carved & reticulated brackets, both the sides and front of the cabinet are very finely inlaid with floral and geometric marquetry. The door to the center is inlaid with three ebony & satinwood Neo-Classical columns with a single drawer below and flanked by a bank of four drawers to each side, all the drawers with the original gilt bronze pulls.
The base with a tambour roll top desk with six drawers each inlaid with ebony & satinwood 'starbursts', below is a knee-hole with one long drawer & flanked by two short drawers, all finely inlaid with marquetry, the sides of the desk with corresponding marquetry panels, the cabinet is raised on cabriole legs. The roll top opens & closes with ease, condition is very good throughout, this rare & unusual antique tabernacle cabinet desk is ready to grace your home or office.
