Superb antique French cross-banded walnut & fruitwood writing table with marquetry inlay and ormolu mounts, attributed to Francois Linke, circa 1895. The desk is of the highest quality with the original tooled & gilded Ox-Blood leather writing surface, below is a substantial ormolu floral band. The desk having the most sumptuous marquetry panels on all four sides, featuring birds and floral designs, the drawer to the front with three such panels is lined internally with satinwood. The cabriole legs are mounted to the shoulder with ormolu caryatids that are incredibly finely cast & gilded, the legs terminate onto ormolu sabots. This desk came from a very fine estate that had a matching stand that was signed F. Linke on one of the bronze mounts, the desk is of the highest quality and is in incredible condition!
