A fine & rare early 18th century antique French Louis XIV period walnut armoire bonnetiere, Lyon, circa 1710.
Rare & difficult to find solid walnut Louis XIV period chateau bonnetiere, circa early 1700s. An exceptional documentary example from the Lyon region of France, this area was notable in the early 1700s for its superior production of armoires.
The upper cabinet features a pronounced stepped cornice above a single door with the original key & brass lockplate escutcheon, the door having a central arched panel & three smaller surrounding panels outline the center. The door is flanked with three rectangular panels to each side, the lower part of the cabinet is fitted with a single drawer with a hand-forged iron handle.
The bonnetiere is raised on compressed bun feet, the interior having two shelves, a hanging rail can be easily fitted and if requested Bloomsbury's professional workshops can do so without further cost to the buyer.
Condition is excellent, this very elegant period armoire is ready to grace your space.
