A good antique late 17th Century carved ebonized oak cabinet on stand, circa 1680.
Such cabinets are commonly referred to as credence or chalice cabinets, referring to a ecclesiastical use, this cabinet is in two sections mainly of 17th century elements. The top having a stepped cornice with a carved floral frieze, below is a single carved panel door with a landscape scene carved to the center, featuring a grazing game bird, the door is flanked by a pair of ribbed columns with carved Corinthian capitals & carved bases. Below the door is a single drawer flanked by a pair of carved lion corbel bracket supports, the cabinet sides are also decorated with carved panels.
The base having a carved foliate frieze, the stand with four substantial turned baluster legs, raised on ball feet. This very elegant antique cabinet is in excellent condition and is ready to grace your space.
