The base with a carved frieze of hemispherical 'Cut Pineapple" (design, this design became popular during the Elizabethan period as maritime adventurers such as Sir Francis Drake and Sir Walter Raleigh had brought back exotic fruits and vegetables like the pineapple and Potato that had not been seen in England before), the base having twin paneled doors carved with corresponding circular devices and having the original hand-forged 'butterfly' hinges. The sides of the cabinet are also paneled, the cupboard is raised on stile feet, condition is very good, all original and having a wonderful patina built up over more than 400 years.
