An unusual antique 19th century Spanish Baroque carved vargueno/cabinet on stand circa 1880. The two section desk and stand is finely carved with baroque grotesques carrying torches, with mythical beasts including a pair of griffins. The desk having a fall front that locks in place and is supported by a pair of pull out lopers also carved with grotesque masks, the fall front enclosing a simple fitted interior. The desk/cabinet is raised on a stand with turned supports and finials, condition is very good.
