Large Antique Islamic Persian Ottoman Silver Ewer or Pitcher, Qajar Period, circa 1880.
A large & finely decorated Islamic Persian white metal (silver) ewer dating from the late 19th century, circa 1880 & from the Qajar period. The ewer having a hinged dome shaped lid with a 'pineapple' finial, the body of the vessel is finely engraved & interspersed with panels of floral decoration. The handle also finely engraved & having a terminal shaped as a dog's head, the spout also modeled as an 'elephant's trunk', the vessel is raised on a flared foot with corresponding engraved panels of floral decoration. Fine quality & excellent condition.
