Antique French Islamic Glass Enamel Gilt Mamluk Revival Mosque Lamp, Phillippe-Joseph Brocard (1831-1896), circa 1880

This very fine antique mosque lamp, most likely by Phillippe-Joseph Brocard (1831-1896), made in Paris circa 1880. The hand-blown glass lamp having a bulbous body with a tapered neck & flaring mouth, standing on a compressed foot. The neck decorated with three bands of white Naskh script with blue floral background decoration, each band of script is punctuated with a large circular gilded geometric device. Both the neck & base are beautifully & heavily gilded & heightened with floral decoration, the lamp having six suspension handles separated with corresponding circular geometric devices. The underside of the base having six circular floral devices and panels of gilded decoration, the lamp with a raised pontil mark to the base. A rare antique mosque lamp in the Mamluk tradition, a fine investment quality piece in excellent condition!
