A fine & rare antique sterling silver engraved cigar case, with the family crest & motto for the Scottish Clan Kerr, made by Taylor & Perry, Birmingham, 1840.
The case is finely & profusely engraved with a scrolling foliate design, the hinged lid closes tightly and with ease, the case having the hallmarks for makers Taylor and Perry and the date letter for Birmingham 1840. On the top of the hinged lid is the crest for the Scottish borders Clan Kerr, they were one of the most inflential clans on the Scottish borders. The crest depicts the sun centered in a buckled belt with the latin phrase "Sero Sed Serio" (Late but in Ernest).
The case is in good condition, silver weight is 90 grams.
