Antique Japanese Meiji Period Ivory Figural Group / Okimono, Go Players, circa 1890. The figural group depicting two distinguished elder Japanese gentlemen engaged in the game of Go. Each figure is very finely carved in traditional dress and engraved with polychrome decoration. Each player having a container for Go stones and the game board located to the center. Each figure can be removed from the wooden plinth and both signed to the underside.
