A fine quality antique Grand Tour bronze statuette of a centurion/gladiator, Italy, circa 1820.
This very handsome antique bronze was cast by the lost wax (cire purdue) method and portrays a centurion/gladiator dressed in armour, victorious in battle and carrying a Gladius sword in one hand and holding a Roman twin handled amphora to his chest. The statue stands on a socle shaped base made of Girotte marble, the figure has a wonderful warm & mellow patina built up over the last 200+ years. Condition is very good indeed, no damage or condition issues and no restoration.
A very fine antique Grand Tour bronze statue.
