A rare and ancient Mamluk period Islamic handblown glass mosque lamp, Egypt or Syria, early 1500's.
The lamp of diminutive form & having a flared neck with Islamic calligraphy, the globular body also decorated with quranic script in blue. There are three applied handles to suspend the lamp, the lamp is raised on a flared foot.
Condition is very good and remarkably there are no chips or cracks, the lamp possibly at some stage was buried as there is some iridescence to the surface of the glass.
