A fine antique late 18th century Chinese archaic style bronze censer with a Xuande mark.
The censer made of cast bronze is very finely modeled, the flared mouth with a key pattern, the globular body below with raised decoration featuring fantastic creatures chasing a flaming pearl in a landscape with clouds. The censer with a pair of handles modeled as the heads of Chinese lions, raised on a flared foot with scrolling decoration. To the base is a tributary Ming dynasty Xuande mark, the censer dating to the late 18th century or possibly early 19th century of the Qing dynasty.
The censer is of very high quality, the casting is very crisp and the design finely executed, the censer is substantial & weighs about 25lbs. Condition is excellent, the bronze has a warm aged patina, this wonderful antique Chinese censer is ready to grace your space.
